Tasting - Sean Minor Pinot Noir Rose Vin Gris 2013

Sean Minor Pinot Noir Rose Vin Gris 2013
Carneros, California
Regular Price: $20
Sale Price: $8.95

Vintage Cellar Tasting Notes: "The Vin Gris is a bright and vibrant salmon color with cherry, strawberry, cranberry and ripe watermelon aromas on the nose.  On entry, the wine displays bright strawberry flavors. Throughout the mid-palate and finish, raspberry and cherry fruit characters are balanced with spicy and crisp acidity that linger creating a refreshing and lengthy finish."

Not having tried many Pinot Noirs and much less a Pinot Noir Rose, I was pretty excited about this one. After all the talk of Pinot Noir being a difficult grape to grow and finding an inexpensive but good one being difficult as well, I was happy to see this wine on the tastings list. It had a nice light pink, rose color as to be expected and a slight hint of strawberry and watermelon on the nose. On the palate it was extremely light, perhaps even a bit watery and rathe one-dimensional. Unfortunately I was not wowed by this wine like I had hoped.
